Detroit, MI. – The Steel Shop, a turnkey design and build company specializing in steel fabrication and construction for the food and manufacturing industry, overcomes a unique problem to complete construction of a new cold storage building for Rocky Produce located in the Food Terminal – at Eastern Market.

The Steel Shop’s project engineers incorporated specific structural designs into the construction that enable the building to be kept at a -20° below zero temperature, while at the same time insulating the ground in order to prevent heaving.

The Steel Shop maintains an in-house staff of quality and dedicated Professional Licensed Engineers, Certified Welders and a fully staffed and equipped fabrication shop that includes steel sheers, press brakes, pipe benders, and more. As a turnkey supplier, the company controls all aspects of the construction process from the anchor bolts up.
